New! Access to Income Protection Insurance for DIDU members

If, as a self-employed driving instructor, you’ve found it difficult or impossible to take out income protection and other insurances, you’ll be pleased to hear about a new membership arrangement specialist insurance providers, Union Income Benefit (UIB).

DIDU members can now get access to UIB’s range of low-cost insurance plans which will help protect them and their families against the financial impact of a major life trauma.

Cash Coming In If You Can’t Work

The Income Protection policy is available to working people aged 18-64 and provides a regular payment to replace your net income if you are unable to work due to accident, sickness or injury. Benefits are payable for up to 24 months, there is help with rehabilitation expenses and there’s an additional cash lump sum if you become permanently unable to work. Pre-existing conditions and certain types of medical conditions are excluded but if you’re a self-employed person who’ll not receive any sick pay, this cover could be right for you. Cash Assistance for Accidents

UIB also offers two personal accident policies to DIDU members. Both these policies are available online at www.uib.org.uk, are guaranteed acceptance with no medical questions to answer and the first month’s cover is free.

The Personal Accident and Accidental Death Plan pays out up to £100,000 cash assistance for you or your loved ones if you are permanently injured or die as a result of an accident. You are covered at work, at home or on holiday anywhere in the world. Cover is available to 18-65 year olds and can continue to age 70.

50+ Personal Accident Plan

The 50+ Personal Accident Plan provides a cash payment if you suffer a fracture, burns or dislocation as the result of an accident, plus up to £20,000 accidental death benefit. This Plan is for people aged 50 to 79 on application. You can cover yourself only or you and your partner and cover can continue to age 85.

Cash to help you look after those you leave behind

UIB Life Plan pays out a cash lump of up to £30,000 if you die during the policy term and also offers a no-claim cashback option if you keep the policy to age 70 and no claim is made. There are no medical questions involved and acceptance is guaranteed for UK residents aged 18-65. What’s more, the monthly premiums are guaranteed never to rise and the first month’s cover is provided for free.

Cash lump sum to help you through if you had a critical illness

UIB Critical Illness Plan offer a choice of cover from £2,500 to £30,000, proving a lump sum payment should you suffer from any of the 7 serious conditions covered, plus it covers for accidental paralysis or loss of limbs (as defined in Plan conditions. Pre-existing conditions are not covered under this plan).
Acceptance is guaranteed with no medical questions for UK residents aged 18-60, the plan may continue until age 65. The premiums are fixed and so won’t rise as you get older and there's even a 20% no-claim if you keep the policy to age 65 and don’t claim.
