DSA has made a change to online bookings for theory tests. When booking online, you’ll need to give a contact email address to get your confirmation.

Booking a theory test on behalf of your pupils

If you’re an approved driving instructor (ADI) or a trainer booker and book theory tests on behalf of your pupils, and don’t use the trainer booking facility, you’ll need to think about which email address you’d like the confirmation to go to.
If you’re an ADI or a trainer booker using the trainer booking facility, you won’t be affected by this change.

Booking a driver or rider trainer theory test online

You can use the driver or rider trainer service to book the following types of theory tests online:

• ADI qualifying test (part one)
• large goods vehicle (LGV) register qualifying test
• register of post-test motorcycle trainers (RPMT)

If you book, change or cancel your driver/rider trainer theory test online, you’ll need to give a contact email address to get your confirmation. You won’t be able to carry on with the booking process without one.

If you book via DSA’s contact centre

If you book your test via DSA’s contact centre, you’ll be asked to give an email address for where you want the confirmation to be sent. You’ll only get a posted confirmation if you are can’t give an email address over the phone.

If you're booking more than one theory test at a time

If you need to book more than one theory test at the same time, if all your bookings are allocated to a single order number, you’ll only get one booking confirmation.
This will give details of all the tests and candidates that have been booked under that single order number. For example: If you book an LGV multiple choice test and at the same time ask to book an LGV hazard perception test and an LGV CPC test, you’ll receive one booking confirmation which will contain the details of all three of your test bookings made.
If you want to make multiple bookings over the phone, you’ll need to think about which email or postal address you give for the booking confirmation to be sent to. Online bookings are not affected.

Viewing and printing your booking confirmation

You can go use the online service at any time to:

• view your booking confirmation
• re-print your booking confirmation

To do this, go to direct.gov.uk/theorytestcheck
You now won't need to bring your theory test booking confirmation when turning up for your theory test.
