Jon Little from the Partnering Team for HMRC sent this to DIDU chair Barry Kenward:
My name is Jon Little and I am a member of the Partnering Team for HMRC.
In line with the Government Digital Strategy, I am offering a digital education service to provide wider and easier access to online services, providing help and guidance for people to meet their responsibilities to HMRC. We have several different types of products available which may be very useful to you and your members. These include:-
- E-learning packages which can be accessed at any time and worked though at an individual’s own speed.
- Webinars (Online Presentations) can either be a pre-recorded or ‘live’ format and provide the opportunity for customers to attend a seminar via the internet. The ‘live webinars’ can be booked through HMRCs website last around an hour and you have the opportunity to ask questions. It is also possible for a live webinar to be arranged to suit you for a meeting or training session if you have the necessary equipment. These can be especially helpful coming up to January 31st when tax returns are due and your trainees and instructors may have questions they need to ask.
- Lots of ‘bite-sized’ tax information videos on HMRC’s YouTube pages. We also have a Twitter account, and mobile record keeping apps that can be downloaded.
Thank you for your time.
