ADI to swim the English Channel

In July this year, Neil Cartwright, a driving instructor from South East London, is swimming to France as part of a team of six swimmers.

Neil is raising money for Aspire - a national charity providing practical support, funding and advice to people with spinal cord injuries in the UK and Ireland.

The water temperature is likely to be between 12 and 16 degrees celcius and Neil's only protection from the elements allowed to him are a swim hat, goggles, and a fetching pair of trunks. Depending on the tides, he could be starting out at 3am at Dover.
